Washington Capitals players hit the streets of D.C. on Tuesday as they celebrated their Stanley Cup victory with the fans throughout the nation’s capital. Needless to say, it was a special moment for the fans who have been waiting decades for this.
Of course, social media was there to documents the day’s best moments. With all the different points of view, from the players to the fans, it felt like we were right there with them.
D.C. Metro decided it would be a good time to throw some shade at the Capitals for taking so long:
We know a lot of you are interested in ridership numbers, and we'll have those for you in a bit. For now, we can say: "This is the largest audience to ever witness a @Capitals victory parade. PERIOD." #WMATA #ALLCAPS #StanleyCup

Tens of thousands of fans gathered in the streets of D.C. along the historic parade route hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite team. The Capitals cheering squad may have been bigger than expected. They were waiting to see Alex Ovechkin and other players, who were certainly having a good time:

Ovechkin holding up the Stanley Cup while standing on top of a bus is one of the highlights. Some wonder if he will ever let go of the Cup. The crowd was frenzied as the Stanley Cup made its way down the parade route, and the media even got in on the fun.

The Air National Guard performed a flyover during the celebration. The parade concluded with a rally on the National Mall. In addition to the Capitals and fans, a number of celebritie, public figures and guests of honor were in attendance. There was even a band that helped led the parade, bagpipes included.>Next: There is Some wonderfully weird stuff happening D.C Right Now
All in all, it was one of the best championship parades we’ve seen. Congratulations to the Capitals!
